300g of rice
200g of red beans
200g of « boucané » or smoked bacon
1 chopped onion
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 tsp of turmeric
5 crushed cloves
Thyme, salt, Pepper, oil
water (same volume as the rice)

Fry the bacon in a pan until golden , add the onions and cook for another 2 minutes.  Add the garlic, turmeric, cloves and thyme and cook for a few seconds more.
Add the beans  and mix gently. Add the rice and the water. Put a lid on the pan and cook for 15 minutes (until soft)

Le rougail de mangue verte

1 green mango (unripe)
1 small onion
1 chili pepper (or more)
salt, oil

Use a blender to chop the mango, the chili pepper ( homegrown)  and the onion, with a pinch of salt and a little sunflower oïl.
